The UBC Musical Theatre Troupe is proud to announce STEP IN TIME: A Virtual Musical Revue!
Come aboard and join us on this trip through musical theatre history!
What is STEP IN TIME?
Due to COVID-19, we are unable to host our fall production. Instead, we want to create a virtual musical revue highlighting our members’ talents. This project will have many similar aspects to our normal fall productions.
We will start by hiring a creative team. Crew hiring, and cast and band auditions will take place in September.
The final result will be a video compilation of various numbers that follow the theme “Musicals through Time”. The Creative Team will create a set list and decide on an overall vision for the project. We hope that all the songs will be linked together by a common thread, for example, an emcee. There will be ensemble, smaller group, and solo numbers in the revue.
The piece will not be recorded live, but filmed in advance and edited. Our crew members will act as virtual consultants to the actors, assisting them in setting up their space, deciding what to wear, etc.

C A S T
We are looking to cast around 20 – 25 members to join this production. The actors will have the opportunity to sing, dance, and act under the supervision of our co-directors Gabrielle Morin and Gabrielle Plowens. Auditions will be held September 21 – 24.
Rehearsals will be held weekly on Tuesdays from 5:00 – 8:00 PM and Saturdays, based on availability.

We are looking for dedicated and creative individuals who are excited to grow behind the scenes and help us create a high quality virtual revue, under the supervision of our stage manager (Elsa Yuan) and technical director (David Bromley). We are looking to hire band members to join in this production. The musicians will have the chance to prepare and record numbers for the revue, under the supervision of our band director Ashley Babcock. Come join our STEP IN TIME Creative Team!
Applications are are NOW OPEN and will close August 31st at 11:59 PM. The public announcement of the Creative Team will take place on September 4.
The creative team comprises the director, choreographer, vocal director, band director, technical director, and stage manager. Since this is a smaller project than our normal productions, we are currently only hiring lead positions. There may be opportunities to be an assistant at the discretion of the creative team.
No experience in these roles are necessary, but extensive familiarity with acting, dance, music or backstage will be required.
