Joining our cast is an exciting opportunity that is open to all students at the University of British Columbia! Whether you’ve studied theatre or dance, participated in musicals back in highschool, or just dance to Broadway hits in your dorm, STEP IN TIME  will provide a new experience that is both challenging and extremely rewarding.

Rehearsals will be held weekly on Tuesday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM and on Saturdays, based on availability, on zoom. Rehearsals begin Tuesday, September 29th and lead up to the performances on November 27th and 28th. These rehearsal times may be subject to slight changes, but it is expected that members attend all rehearsals which should not exceed a total of 5 hours / week. All cast members are expected to practice their numbers outside of rehearsal hours.

Due to COVID-19, we are unable to host our fall production. Instead, we want to create a virtual musical revue highlighting our members’ talents. This project will have many similar aspects to our normal fall productions.

The final result will be a video compilation of various numbers that follow the theme “Musicals through Time”. The Creative Team will create a set list and decide on an overall vision for the project. We hope that all the songs will be linked together by a common thread, for example, an emcee. There will be ensemble, smaller group, and solo numbers in the revue.

The piece will not be recorded live, but filmed in advance and edited. Our crew members will act as virtual consultants to the actors, assisting them in setting up their space, deciding what to wear, etc.

I was in a previous production with this club and I want to come back! Am I guaranteed a spot in the cast?

Past cast members will not receive preferential treatment in the audition room. This ensures that we are just welcoming and being fair to folks who have never been in the club before!

I have class / work / another commitment on Tuesday nights, what happens if I am unable to make it?

Unfortunately, we require all cast members to be available for Tuesday rehearsals. If you let us know that you’ll be 15 – 30 minutes late every Tuesday because you have a commitment, we can try to accommodate you. However, this may have implications on our casting decisions. Please be transparent about your commitments.

If I don’t get into the cast, can I be in the band or crew?

Unfortunately not this semester. Crew and band hiring take place at the same time as cast auditions. However, you may audition/apply for more than one group, and it will be at the discretion of the creative team to decide if and which group you will join.

How can I prepare for my audition?
