Joining our cast is an exciting opportunity that is open to all students at the University of British Columbia! Whether you’ve studied theatre or dance, participated in musicals back in highschool, or just dance to Broadway hits in your dorm, A Chorus Line will provide a new experience that is both challenging and extremely rewarding.
We are looking to cast a minimum of 25 members! The actors will have the opportunity to give an amazing performance,
Rehearsals will be held weekly Wednesday, 5:00 – 9:00 PM and Saturdays, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM on UBC campus. Rehearsals begin Wednesday December 1st and lead up to the performances on March 19, 20, 25, and 26. . These rehearsal times may be subject to slight changes, but it is expected that members attend all rehearsals which should not exceed a total of 10 hours / week.
A Chorus Line:
Seventeen Broadway dancers audition to be a part of the chorus for a Broadway show. As the show progresses, each one exposes their individuality and opens up to the choreographer and to the audience about what brought them here. Cassie, an ex-star who needs a job, Kristine, who can’t sing, and Mike, a tap dancer, are just a few individuals who tell us about their lives as they learn the finale number.
If accepted, band members are asked to pay a $20 participation fee. This is a small fee to help support the production, as we perform in a professional venue and aim to create high-quality productions. Cast members will also receive a production shirt as part of this cost. If you are selected but have difficulty paying this fee, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or speak with a club executive team member.

How many people will be accepted into the cast?
We will be taking about 25 actors and will definitely need a large ensemble.
I was in a previous production or participated in workshops with the club and I want to come back! Am I guaranteed a spot in the cast?
Past cast members and workshop participants will not receive preferential treatment in the audition room. This ensures that we are just welcoming and being fair to folks who have never been in the club before!
I have class / work / another commitment on Wednesday nights, what happens if I am unable to make it?
Unfortunately, we require all cast members to be available for Wednesday rehearsals. If you let us know that you’ll be 15 – 30 minutes late every Wednesday because you have a commitment, we can try to accommodate you. However, this may have implications on our casting decisions. Please be transparent about your commitments.
I got a callback! Does that mean I’m in the show?
Being called back for a role or the ensemble does not ensure your place in the cast. We invite more people than we can accept to callbacks so we can see you dance, as this is an important factor in our casting decisions.
If I don’t get into the cast, can I be in the band or crew?
You are welcome to apply/audition for the cast, band, and crew. Please list your preferences on the sign-up forms and we will do our best to accommodate you.
